Barbara Hitching

Born in Wisconsin, Barbara spent her teens in Maryland; then moved to England when she was 22. She spent 25 years as a missionary, working in different countries – she especially loved interacting with people in the East and Middle East.

As a young woman, she began journaling and progressed to co-authoring three novels (published in England) with her husband. For years, she worked with local believers to produce audiovisuals in their ethnic language. As a result, she was asked to co-produce the film, “More Than Conquerors” about the persecuted Church in the former Soviet Union. Engaged in that, she met the Vins family – brought to the United States by President Carter in exchange for two Russian spies. Lydia Vins – the matriarch of the family – whose husband was imprisoned (and died) under Stalin, created an organization to help women and children of men who were imprisoned or in the Gulag. When she died, Barbara’s article on her life was printed in Moody Monthly Magazine.

In 1998, she moved to Florida with her youngest (of 5) to care for her parents. She currently is working on her memoirs; she also devotes time to research of the Bible to write devotional materials.
